<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a raw material for an oral product exhibiting various functions of an active oxygen eliminating ability, antiallergy and improvement of the skin, useful for beautification and health and can be expected to also exhibit an effect of suppressing blood glucose level. <P>SOLUTION: The raw material for an oral product contains an extract of leaves and/or stems of a plant of the genus Fragaria in the family Rosaceae as a main component. It is orally introduced into the body and exhibits an active oxygen eliminating effect because it contains an extract showing an excellent value of SOD-like activity. Therefore, an effect of preventing or suppressing an adult disease or a common disease which is said to be caused by active oxygen can be expected. Further, because it inhibits a tyrosinase activity thereby to suppress the generation of melanin which causes pigmentation, a skin-lightening and beautifying effect can be also expected. Further, it shows an excellent value of hyaluronidase inhibition ratio. Therefore, an effect of preventing or suppressing inflammation, antiallergy or aging can be also expected.
