PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyethylene naphthalate resin which provides the dimensional stability over humidity without deteriorating excellent characteristics of the glass transition temperature, the flatness of the surface or the like when making a film in a polyethylene naphthalate resin product. SOLUTION: The method producing a polyethylene naphthalate resin which goes via an ester exchange reaction or esterification and a polycondensation reaction is characterized in that a modified siloxane compound of 500-2,000 of an average molecular weight by number having two ester forming property functional groups at the one terminal is added by 0.05-2.5 mol% based on the number of moles of all acid components until the polycondensation reaction is finalized, and that tetraalkylammonium hydroxide is added simultaneously or before the addition of the modified siloxane compound.
