PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein a remote control cannot operate because a microcomputer of a remote control circuit and a peripheral device latch up by malfunction caused by lightning surge, or the like. SOLUTION: A remote control unit of a water heater includes the remote control 1 connected by two lines, a remote control connection terminal 3 for connecting the remote control by the two lines, a feeding means 4 of supplying power to the remote control via the remote control connection terminal, a transmission and reception means 5 that is interposed between the remote control connection terminal and the feeding means and transmits a serial signal to the remote control, and a feeding control means 7 of stopping the feeding means for a period of prescribed time 2 when the transmission and reception means cannot perform transmission and reception at least for a period of prescribed time 1. Latch-up is released after a feeding stop period of prescribed time 2, and the remote control unit of a water heater is automatically and normally recovered after recovery of power feed.
