Textile armour 2 comprising at least one textile section 4 and corresponding supporting means 7, wherein the arrangement is such that the or each textile section 4 is fully extended. Preferably, the textile section 4 comprises a net formed from a plurality of interconnecting stands (5, 6, fig. 1) such as plastic fibres. One possible material for the strands (5, 6, fig. 1) is ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene. The net 4 may be supported at two adjacent corners, with the body of the net 4 hanging below. It may be woven or knotted and preferably has a camouflage colouring. The armour works by deforming the nose cone 11 of the shaped-charge warhead 12 and preventing the charge from forming properly. |
