A vehicle operating procedure in which starting from an idling state in which a motor vehicle/engine has a given idling speed, an actuating element is monitored for generation of an actuating signal and with the presence of the actuating signal a creep-drive state is activated. A creep-drive moment (MK) is specified depending on the actual road gradient (st), up and/or down, and depending on the actual friction factor (mu) of the driving wheels with the road surface.
