PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sufficiently attain a dubbing from a DVD, in which video information is previously stored based upon the +VR format, to the other recording medium. SOLUTION: An MPU 11 of a DVD recorder 1 is provided with: a chapter setting part 111 receiving operation input from a user through a remote controller 3 and setting a hidden chapter being a chapter in which reproduction is prohibited out of chapters of the prescribed numbers based on received operation input; and a dubbing execution part 113 in which when a dubbing indication input being such operation input that video information from the user is recorded in a hard disk of an HDD 191 through the remote controller 3 is received and this dubbing indication input is received, video information consisting of chapters of the prescribed number including chapters set to the hidden chapter is read out from a DVD placed on a DVD recording part 192, and read out video information is recorded in the hard disk of the HDD 191.
