PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting DNA derived from a wide range of animals, for the DNA isolated from food items. SOLUTION: Using a primer having a specific base sequence, DNA derived from a group of animals belonging to echinoderm, arthropod, mollusk and vertebrate can be amplified by PCR technique. Also, DNA derived from a group of these animals plus those belonging to annelid can be amplified using the primer. The presence of the DNA derived from the animals is confirmed by subjecting DNA fragments as the amplified product to electrophoresis or melting curve analysis. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
