METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR DETECTING CONVERSION POSITION OF LAND/GROOVE IN SEEK MODE AND OPTICAL DISK DRIVE USING THE SAME

A method and an apparatus for detecting land/groove switching position in a seek mode and an optical disk drive using the same are provided to execute stabilized seek servo control by calculating accurate land/groove switching position during the seek mode and restricting the seek speed control around the calculated land/groove switching prediction position. A method for detecting land/groove switching position in a seek mode includes a step of measuring information about the land/groove switching generation timing of a disc by using a first signal whose frequency is varied in proportion to the rotation speed of rotation of the disc in a general playback mode and a second signal having constant frequency which is higher than the frequency of the first signal; and a step of calculating land/groove switching prediction position at the seek mode by using the information about the land/groove switching generating timing measured in the general playback mode.
