EXHAUST EMISSION CONTROL DEVICE OF INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique for efficiently improving a warming-up property of a three-way catalyst in an internal combustion engine by surely suppressing inflow of moisture to the three-way catalyst or lowering of an exhaust gas temperature before completing warm-up of the three-way catalyst.

SOLUTION: Moisture as water vapor contained in the exhaust gas of the internal combustion engine 1 is absorbed by a water absorbent 16 and liquid moisture flowing through the exhaust pipe 6 of the internal combustion engine 1 is captured by a recessed part 17. Thus, moisture reaching the three-way catalyst 15 before warming-up is surely reduced and thermal capacity of the water absorbent 16 is reduced to suppress lowering of the temperature of the exhaust gas.
