A high pressure fuel pump is provided in which more large portion is washed by fuel and accordingly leaked fuel does not stay in guide region between a pump piston and a pump cylinder or sealed gap. A fuel pump comprises a pump piston guided in the pump cylinder. One or more leakage grooves are formed in the recess of the pump cylinder in which the pump piston is guided. The fuel leak occurred between the pump cylinder and the pump piston is emitted through the leakage groove. Leakage grooves(15,16) is formed in 1/3 of the lower part in the recess(12) of the pump cylinder(11).
