AUTOMATIC SPEED BUMP FOR CONTROL OF VEHICLE SPEED

The speed bump is formed by plates (9) with sidepieces (9') hinged thereto so that in operative position the plates form an elevation, while in non-operative position the plates are horizontally located at the same height as the road surface, the plates (9) being supported by connecting rod-arms (7) which are mounted on carriages (5) movable by guide rails (4), in such a way that movement in one direction or another of these carriages (5) brings about either vertical positioning of the connecting rod-arms (7) and the corresponding lifting of the speed bump formed by the plates (9-9') or inclined positioning of the connecting rods-arms (7) and corresponding lowered position of the plates (9-9'), in the latter case enabling free passage of vehicles. Lifting of the plates (9-9') is achieved by means of the action of motors receiving signals form a sensor detecting vehicle excess speed.
