[Also in Groups XXI, XXXII and XXXIV] A machine for loading and conveying loose material produced in underground workings comprising a rail-mounted chassis on which is pivotally mounted a loading device consisting of a jigging conveyer trough having its forward end constructed as a shovel and supported on .the floor of the working by sliding runners is characterized in that the loading device is connected to the chassis by a universal joint and is slidable longitudinally on the chassis. The conveyer trough 1, Figs. 1, 2, reciprocated by piston engines 4, is supported at its rear end on a chassis 6 mounted on rails, and at its front end is formed as a shovel provided with teeth 11 and supported by runners 3. To support the trough 1, the chassis frame is formed with a guide 40, Fig. 10, in which is slidable a plate 41 fixed to a cylindrical member 42 provided with slots 46 to receive an axle 45 secured to a cylindrical member 44 rotatable on the member 42. This axle is secured to plates 47 which are connected by springs 48 to members 49 on which is bolted the trough 1. Secured to each side of the chassis 6 by brackets 23, Fig. 6, are piston-rods 10 co-operating with separately controlled hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders 9 which are secured to the trough 1, through blocks 25 and spring elements 12 (see Group XXXII). When the cylinders are uniformly loaded, they press the trough towards the material to be conveyed, whilst on being differently loaded, they pivot the trough about a vertical axis to the dotted line position shown in Fig. 2. The chain is secured to its supporting rails by clamps 7 which are hinged on the wheel carriers 16, Fig. 6, and are actuated by cams (not shown) turned by piston-andcylinder mechanism 13, 18 through linkages 19, 20. |
