PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic display device, a driving method of the same, and an electronic apparatus capable of reducing power consumption. SOLUTION: A controller 40 as a control and calculation means calculates proportions of the first and second display colors (white color and black color) in the entire pixels on the basis of image data of an image to be displayed. It is reset so that one having a larger proportion among the white color and the black color is displayed on an electrophoretic element 24. The writing operation for selectively displaying the display color having the smaller proportion on the electrophoretic element 24 is then performed on the basis of the image data. Thus, the desired images are displayed. A storage capacitance 23 connected to the electrophoretic element 24 holds a potential difference to be provided to the electrophoretic element 24 during the writing operation. Accordingly, the number of the storage capacitances 23 to be charged is suppressed to half or less, thereby reducing the power consumption. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT
