<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cellular phone unit with a video telephone function which transmits information about an application operating in a terminal to a partner as transmitted image data of the video telephone, and to provide a method for controlling the cellular phone unit, having video telephone functions. <P>SOLUTION: In the cellular phone unit, an operation part 105 notifies a video telephone control part 107 that there is input for switching modes and the video telephone control part 107 switches the modes. The video telephone control part 107 acquires image data created by the application 109. The video telephone control part 107 displays the image data obtained from the application 109 on a monitor 102 and transmits the image data to a voice/image processing part 108. The image data of the application 109 is displayed on a self-terminal monitor 201.
