PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prosthetic or orthotic joint which can achieve suitable braking of revolution movement by an easy method. SOLUTION: Between a revolution piston (6) and a displace room (5), at least one contour area to define a flow cross section is formed. The contour area is hydrodynamically communicated with a communicating flow path (9) and the displace room (5) over a selected revolution angle.
