A method to operate flow control devices such as multi-position hydraulic valves 12,14,16 in a well comprises placing the flow control devices in a desired location in the well, with each flow control device being joined to control lines 18,20,22 and a snorkel 10 which pass through a packer 28, and cycling the pressure in the control line above and below the pressure in the snorkel to change the state of the flow control device via an indexer 23. The fluid in the snorkel is isolated from well fluids using a compensator 30. |
