A retaining mechanism for a slide assembly includes a first rail 1, a second rail 2, a holding member 3, a blocking member 4 and a fixed plate 5. The second rail is slidably connected to the first rail. The holding member 3 has fixed end 30 that is fixedly connected to the first rail and slots 31 at the other end. The blocking member 4 has a fixed end 40 fixedly connected to the first rail and an engaging section 41 with ribs that cooperate with the slots. The blocking member is located between the holding member and the first rail. The fixed plate 5 is fixedly connected to the second rail and has formations that correspond to the slots of the holding member. As the slide rails are extended the fixed plate formations pass along the slots 31 and move over ribs 41 until they reach the end of the blocking plate and remain engaged through the slots in a locked condition. The rails are released by pressing on a raised portion 33 of the holding portion to move it away from the fixed plate releasing the fixed plated from the slots. |
