Retractable post assembly

A retractable post assembly comprises two rigid members 1,3 connected together which are able to rotate around a fixed point 4 located in a structure that is mounted below the surface of a pavement or road 9. The intended purpose of the assembly is to provide a physical barrier to vehicle access, by means of member 1 presenting in a vertical position above surface 9. When member 1 is impacted by a vehicle at a force great enough to shear sacrificial pin 6, member 1 and member 3 will rotate around pivot 4. The rotational movement of member 1 and 3 is restricted to approximately 45 degrees by mechanical stops in the structure. The motion of the vehicle is intended to be arrested by a combination of member 1 and member 3 contacting the front and underside of the vehicle.
