The method involves determining a landing delay margin in a given flight point by using a calculator (30), where the margin corresponds to an estimated delay during which braking actions are carried out for stopping an aircraft before an end of a landing runway after wheels of the aircraft touch the runway. Information characterizing the margin is displayed on a display unit (41) i.e. pilot flight display, of a presentation unit (40). The margin corresponds to a time taken by the aircraft for traveling a distance that is equal to a distance between an estimated stagnation point and the end. An independent claim is also included for a device for assisting landing of an aircraft in final flight phase on a landing runway.
