A display apparatus is provided to enhance reliability thereof by compensating for a threshold voltage of a thin film transistor. A display apparatus includes a driver(106), a monitor circuit(103), a power control circuit(102), and a threshold value control circuit(101). The driver includes an output circuit(104) which outputs pulses and includes a first transistor. The monitor circuit having a second transistor is used to obtain a threshold voltage of the second transistor. The power control circuit connected electrically to the gates of the first and second transistors supplies one of forward and reverse bias voltages to the gates of the first and second transistors. The threshold value control circuit connected operationally to the power control circuit and the monitor circuit selects one of the forward and reverse bias voltages applied by the power control circuit, and determines a time for applying the reverse bias voltage to the gates of the first and second transistors.
