PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a KVM switching unit capable of freely setting the combination of a server unit and a console unit which can be connected. SOLUTION: This KVM switching unit is provided with: a plurality of connection ports 50 which can be connected to a server unit 2 or a console unit 4; a microcomputer 32 for server unit communication installed in each of the plurality of connection ports 50 and for communicating with the server unit 2; a microcomputer 33 for console unit communication installed in each of the plurality of connection ports 50 and for communicating with the console unit 4; and a line switching control microcomputer 31 for detecting whether or not the unit connected to the connection port 50 is the server unit 2 or the console unit 4, and for connecting the connection port 50 to the microcomputer 32 for server unit communication or the microcomputer 33 for console unit communication according to the detection result.
