PURPOSE:To accurately attain the recording or reproduction with high density by using an information recording card medium provided with a base, a protection case and a base lock mechanism, releasing the lock mechanism at recording or reproduction and extracting the base from the protecting case to decrease the effect of flaw or dust. CONSTITUTION:When the information recording card medium is loaded from a card loading inlet 4 until the protecting case 2 abuts on a stopper 12 in the direction of arrow H, the protection case 2 is fixed and held by a protection case fixture 11. Then rollers 5, 5' are moved to a position where the rollers are brought into close contact with the base 1 through a window and the roller 5 is driven in the direction of arrow I to release the base 1 from a retaining spring 34 and to extract the card from the protecting case 2. The extracted base 1 is loaded up to the inside of the device as shown in arrow A by a roller driven in the direction of arrow J, driven reciprocatedly in the direction of arrow K by rollers 32, 32' and 33, 33', and information is recorded or reproduced to/from a recording area exposed on the base 1 by a head 31.
