PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal lens in which the center of deformation of a transparent substrate due to a temperature change is approximately aligned with effective lens center. SOLUTION: In the liquid crystal lens using a liquid crystal cell configured by mutually bonding transparent substrates having an effective lens area serving as a variable focal lens via seals and holding a liquid crystal layer between both the transparent substrates, the seal comprises a frame-like first seal containing a first spacer having a gap forcing height for regulating the thickness direction of the liquid crystal cell and formed on the outer edge part of the transparent substrates and a second seal containing a second spacer whose gap forcing height is lower than that of the first spacer and arranged in an equal distance on the inside of the arrangement position of the first seal and concentrically around the center of the lens in the effective lens area.
