PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a switch device wherein a character and graphic for display are not rotated, when a rotary switch is rotated. SOLUTION: The switch device comprises a hollow switch knob 3, where a translucent front surface 3a is formed; a rotary switch 5 comprising a rotating shaft 6 which is installed on the rear surface side of the switch knob 3 and whose one end is fixed to the switch knob 3; holes 7a and 7b formed in specified shape for display as to counter the front surface 3a, at the part positioned on the rear surface side of the switch knob 3 of the panel plate 2; and LED 8a and 8b installed so as to coincide with the position of the holes 7a and 7b, on the rear surface side of the switch knob 3 which is on the rear surface side of the panel plate 2. The lights of the LED 8a and 8b that have been turned on are emitted from the rear surface side of the holes 7a and 7b to the surface side, so that the shape of the holes 7a and 7b formed in specified shape for display is projected on the front surface 3a of the switch knob 3.
