PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an image from becoming inferior to the image quality captured at a fine level originally, when image quality is converted from ultra-fine to fine using software. SOLUTION: An ifax communication unit that performs communication of image data through the Internet, which is mounted on an image forming apparatus, includes a destination address table, which is stored in a memory unit, for setting original scanning resolution to resolution defined by a protocol of the Internet. While setting of the scanning resolution is valid, when a user selects transmission of image data by an ifax transmission (E-MAIL) mode, even if the original scanning resolution is set to other resolution in a FAX mode, the resolution is changed to the resolution regulated by the protocol and original capture and transmission is performed.
