PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect the amount of features of contents in terms of not only per episode but also per series.

SOLUTION: Buildup extent is detected in time series for each episode constituting series, and a buildup profile within an episode is generated. Next, a central value is calculated for the buildup profile within the episode. Then, the central value of each episode is arranged to time series to generate a buildup profile within series. The present invention is applicable to classification and search etc. of contents such as television programs, for example.
