DIGITAL HOMESHOPPING BROADCASTING SYSTEM PROVIDING THE AVATA IMAGE AND THE BROADCASTING METHOD THEREFOR

A digital home shopping broadcasting system and a method for providing avatars images are provided to display an avatar image which represents a 3D user avatar wearing a broadcasting item such that a user rationally decides purchase of the item with reference to the avatar image. A digital home shopping broadcasting system includes an item management server(120), a transmitter(130), a receiver(230), a data storage unit(220), an avatar processor(210), and an image output unit(240). The item management server manages broadcasting item information. The transmitter combines a data signal including item data received from the item management server and an A/V signal output from an image capturing device and transmits a digital broadcasting signal corresponding to the combined signal. The receiver receives the digital broadcasting signal, divides the digital broadcasting signal into the data signal and the A/V signal and extracts the item data from the data signal. The data storage unit stores avatar data of a user and the item data received from the receiver. The avatar processor receives the avatar data and the item data from the data storage unit and generates an avatar image representing a user avatar wearing an item corresponding to the item data. The image output unit receives the A/V signal and the avatar image and outputs an image displayed on a screen.
