PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing 2,2'-bis(trifluoromethyl)-4,4'-diaminobiphenyl in better yield by using 3,3'-bis(trifluoromethyl)hydrazobenzene as a raw material. SOLUTION: The method for producing the 2,2'-bis(trifluoromethyl)-4,4'-diaminobiphenyl comprises rearranging the 3,3'-bis(trifluoromethyl)hydrazobenzene in the presence of an organic solvent and an inorganic acid. The method for producing the 2,2'-bis(trifluoromethyl)-4,4'-diaminobiphenyl is characterized by separating an acid salt of the 2,2'-bis(trifluoromethyl)-4,4'-diaminobiphenyl after regulating the pH of the rearrangement reaction liquid after the rearrangement reaction.
