PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem wherein an error of the thickness is generated due to double or triple layers of the winding starting portion by spiral winding in a range from a winding starting portion to a winding finishing portion in a process to cut a continuously fed web with a cutter travelling in the cross direction of the web and wind the cut end on a new winding core. SOLUTION: A multi-shaft turret winder automatically cuts the continuously flowing web with the cutter 2 traveling in the cross direction of the web 1 without stopping it, and winds the cut end on the new winding core 3. It calculates the width W of the web to be cut, a web speed V<SB>1</SB>, a cutting angleθin the cross direction of the web relative to the web speed, and a cutter travelling speed V<SB>2</SB>, and cuts the web with the cutter travelling so that the wound web on the winding finishing side relative to the winding starting side of the outer periphery of the new winding core does not reach the circumferential direction 360°of the winding core.
