An apparatus for discharge gas treatment in which nitrogen oxides and mer cury contained in a discharge gas (16) discharged from a boiler are removed with an ammonia denitration catalyst. The apparatus is provided with an ammo nium chloride supply part (101) with which ammonium chloride (NH4Cl) is supp lied in a powdery state to either or both of around the inlet of an economiz er (15) disposed in a flue (10a) for a combustion gas (11) from the boiler a nd an economizer bypass part (15a) through which the high-temperature combus tion gas (11) is bypassed to the downstream side without via the economizer (15). The ammonium chloride is sublimated by the high temperature of the atm osphere of the combustion gas (11) to thereby supply hydrogen chloride and a mmonia into a discharge gas flue (102). Thus, a discharge gas treatment appa ratus can be simplified.
