An article for use in forming a pile. The article 10 comprising an elongate cylindrical core 14 has at least one generally helical flight 12 for driving into the ground. The pitch P of the flight 12 is at least four times the diameter D of the flight. The article may be a pre formed, such as a pre cast concrete pile, or may be a pile former for forming a void in the ground to be subsequently filled with the pile forming material, and may driven into the ground by vibration, continuous force, or impact. |
