A method and a decoder for a tail-biting decoding are provided to obtain a lower latency and to perform a non-iterative decoding for real-time applications, and wireless data transmission and mobile applications. A decoder for a tail-biting decoding includes an input port, a viterbi decoder(36), and an output port. The input port receives a sequence of convolution encoded bits. The viterbi decoder decodes the sequence of the convolution encoded bits, and re-decodes a first part of the sequence of the convolution encoded bits. The output port outputs the sequence of the re-decoded convolution encoded bits. The first part of the sequence of the decoded convolution encoded bits corresponds to the re-decoded first part of the sequence of the convolution encoded bits.
