The method involves determining the angular speed or the time integral of the angular speed of the filling bobbin (7). The speed signal of a central computing and evaluation unit (12) are supplied. The calculated values or fluctuations of the speed signals or one of the signals and other signals are compared with the threshold value. A shute reel swapping-control signal is generated with reaching the threshold value.
