An image forming apparatus and a jam removing method thereof are provided to enable a discharge guide device for opening and closing an opening capable of removing print media to slide in upper and lower directions of an image forming apparatus body, thereby reducing an installation space and removing jammed print media easily. An image forming apparatus includes an image forming apparatus body(11), a print engine, and a discharge guide device(40). The image forming apparatus body has an opening(16) for removing jammed print media. The print engine is installed in the image forming apparatus body to print an image on supplied print media. The discharge guide device guides the print media passing through the print engine to the outside of the image forming apparatus body and is movably installed to move in upper and lower directions for the image forming apparatus body for the opening to open. The discharge guide device includes a frame(41) and a discharge roller(44). The frame is slidably joined to the image forming apparatus body. The discharge roller is installed in the frame to transfer the printed print media to the outside of the image forming apparatus body.
