A power supply capable of supplying power to an electronic device having internally a first battery is disclosed and has: a battery pack with a second battery supplemental to the first battery; an attachment apparatus configured to electrically connect the battery pack and the electronic device; at least one circuit located within the battery pack and configured to: power the electronic device and charge the second battery from an external power source when the battery pack is connected to the electronic device and the external power source is connected to the battery pack; and power the electronic device from the second battery and stop charging the second battery when the battery pack is connected to the electronic device and no external power source is connected to the battery pack; wherein the circuit is configured to signal the electronic device that the battery pack is electrically coupled to the electronic device.
