The invention relates to a fitting for a window or a door in which provision is made for electrical energy and/or signals to be transmitted by means of a cable (7) from the window casement or door leaf (2) to the frame (3) or vice versa, wherein the fitting comprises at least one fitting part (14) which is fastened in a fitting groove (13) on the rebate (12) and covers this groove by way of a lock-case-front rail (15). Provision is made for the fitting part (14) to have a through-passage (18) through which the cable (7) is laid in the groove base (19).
