ACOUSTIC MATCHING LAYER AND ULTRASONIC TRANSMITTER RECEIVER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic transmitter receiver and an ultrasonic flowmeter that have small characteristic variations and superior reliability. SOLUTION: A ceramic porous body has a plurality of obliquely aligned hole portions 3 formed of a skeleton 2 has the hole portions each shaped as predetermined by removing obliquely aligned surface layer portions and then the surface layer portions of high density of the ceramic porous body as a constituent member of the acoustic matching layer 1 are removed to make the density variations of the acoustic matching layer 1 small. Consequently, the acoustic matching layer 1 has smaller variations in acoustic impedance to obtain the stable ultrasonic transmitter receiver with the small characteristic variations.
