PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic channel selection apparatus quickly selecting a channel of a program viewed by a viewer habitually when powered on, even when a program broadcasting schedule is changed. SOLUTION: An automatic channel selection apparatus 10 comprises a recording means, a selection means, and a channel selection means. The recording means records the view history information 21 containing a time/date range, a day of the week, a channel, and a program title when a viewer views the program in television broadcast. The selection means acquires the relevant view history information 21 based on a time and a day of the week when turning on a television receiver 100, and selects a combination of a channel and a program most frequently viewed among the acquired view history information 21 as a program desired by the viewer.
