PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new and improved manufacturing method of a glass substrate for a magnetic disk by which an inside diameter dimensional error of the glass substrate for the magnetic disk can be reduced. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of the glass substrate for the magnetic disk including a chemical strengthening process for chemically strengthening the glass substrate by bringing each of a plurality of glass substrates 102 into contact with any of chemical strengthening treatment liquids of a plurality of chemical strengthening treatment vessels 130 further includes an inside diameter measuring process for measuring inside diameters of the plurality of glass substrates 102 before the chemical strengthening process, an obtaining process for obtaining change quantities of inside diameters of glass substrates 102 generated in the chemical strengthening process for each chemical strengthening treatment vessels 130 and a combination determining process for respectively determining the chemical strengthening treatment vessels 130 to perform chemical strengthening so that the inside diameters of the plurality of glass substrates whose inside diameters are measured are made to be a desired value after the chemical strengthening process based on the change quantities. In the chemical strengthening process, the plurality of glass substrates 102 are chemically strengthened in the determined respective chemical strengthening treatment vessels 130.
