An optical resin material suitable for use as a lens, filter, grating, optical fiber, planar light guide, etc. that while retaining a given water content, realizes thermally stable refractive index and excels in blue light transmission; a relevant optical device; and a process for producing the above optical resin material. There is provided an optical resin material containing a thermoplastic resin and hydrophobic oxide particles, characterized in that the hydrophobic oxide particles are homogeneous oxide particles wherein silicon oxide and one or more oxides of metals other than silicon are homogeneously distributed, the homogeneous oxide particles having been hydrophobicized.
