PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain braking performance from being reduced in a drum brake device having a short lining. SOLUTION: A drive device producing a braking force by pressing the lining 20 to a brake drum 3 moves backward and forward the lining 20 in the substantially horizontal direction and presses the central part of the lining 20 in a position offset from the central position in the vertical direction of the brake drum 3. The drive device is composed of a wheel cylinder 12 and a piston 14, and is fixed to a back plate 2. A shoe web 16 including a cylindrical portion having an outer diameter approximately equal to the inner diameter of the piston 14 is fixed to the piston 14 in the state of being inserted into the interior of the piston 14.
