A developing unit and an image forming apparatus employing the same are provided to lower the height of a developing cartridge, improve a cleaning performance, and prevent abrasion of a photosensitive medium. A developing cartridge(131) accommodates a developer(T2) therein. A cleaning blade(141) cleans a photosensitive medium(110) as its front end comes in contact with the photosensitive medium. A guide member(142) guides the cleaning blade such that it can be linearly moved reciprocally. An elastic member(143) elastically biases the cleaning blade in the direction of the photosensitive medium. A support member(144) is installed to be movable within the guide member and supports the cleaning blade.
