Intended is to acquire a strip of a small thickness even if an arcuate worn step is formed in a side weir. At the running time of a twin-roll casting machine having arcuate wear steps (6) so formed in a side weir (2) as to accompany the rotational sliding contact of cooling rolls (1), when the thickness of a steel strip (3) fed out from a roll clearance (G) is reduced, the center distance (L) of the cooling rolls (1) is reduced, while the side weir (2) is being displaced upward while contacting the roll end faces, so that boundary faces (8), as adjacent to the arcuate wear steps (6), of the side weir (2) are prevented from interfering with the outer circumferences of the cooling rolls (1).
