PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coating film drying method which enables the shortening of the drying time of a coating film in the case where aqueous coating is used, causing no occurrence of a foamed surface flaw, preventing the deformation of a coated material and a coating target, having high productivity and using equipment more small-sized and inexpensive than before. SOLUTION: The coating film drying method has the coating process of coating the coating target 13 with aqueous coating to form coating films 8 and 9 on the coating target 13, the pre-drying process of heating the coated material 2, which is obtained by coating the coating target 13 with the coating films 8 and 9, to pre-drying the coated coating target 13 until the non-volatile components of the coating films 8 and 9 become 70-90%, the final drying process of drying the coated material 2 until the non-volatile components of the coating films 8 and 9 become 97% or above and the cooling process of cooling the coated material 2 to a manually handleable temperature. In the pre-drying process, the heating and cooling of the coated material 2 is repeated at a definite cycle to pre-dry the coating films 8 and 9. COPYRIGHT: (C)2008,JPO&INPIT
