PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of producing a metal-ceramics composite material where a preform is firstly formed of ceramic powder or a ceramic fiber, and a molten aluminum alloy is infiltrated into the preform in a nitrogen atmosphere under normal pressure, by which the infiltration properties of the molten aluminum alloy into the preform is satisfactory even when the ceramic is made of alumina. SOLUTION: As the aluminum alloy to be infiltrated into the preform formed of the alumina ceramics powder or the ceramics fiber, the one obtained by incorporating 0.5 to 2.0 mass% Si into an Al-Mg alloy is used, and the metal- ceramics composite material is produced.
