This invention provides an erasable ink composition in which the dispersiblity of a coloring agent is excellent. The erasable ink composition is an aqueous erasable ink composition having a surface tension of not less than 30 mN/m and comprising a coloring agent having an average particle diameter of less than 0.2 µm and a film forming resin having a rubber hardness of not more than 75° on a dry state. In the erasable ink composition, the rubber hardness of the film forming resin is small, and the surface tension of the ink composition is high. Accordingly, a coloring agent having a small particle diameter can be used. Further, when comparison of coloring agents is made based on an identical amount, the color development can be improved and, further, clogging does not take place even in the case where conventional ball point pen chips, fiber bundle chips, and plastic chips are used. The use of a butadiene resin having an iodine value of not more than 200 as the film forming resin can provides an erasable ink composition that can provide a handwriting trace which becomes unerasable a few days to a few weeks after the handwriting.
