<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable terminal for simultaneously displaying a plurality of icons and the minimum status information of each icon on the small display picture of the portable terminal only by opening a menu icon picture, and for displaying the detailed status information of a desired icon only by moving a cursor to the icon. <P>SOLUTION: As the menu icon picture of a display part 9 of a portable terminal, icons 901 to 912 are set, and each icon is displayed with its title and minimum status information. Then, the icon 905 set by a cursor is enlarged so as to be overlapped with another icon to such extents that the display information of the other icon is almost readable.
