PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydraulic master cylinder which regulates the piston stroke by a simple structure and prevents degradation of the repulsive force of a return spring. SOLUTION: A guide pin fitting recess 4g is formed on a center of a bottom wall of a cylinder hole 4d. A guide pin 12 integrally comprises: a fitting projecting part 12a to be fitted to the guide pin fitting recess 4g; a large diameter flange part 12b having the outside diameter not to close a union hole 10 and abutted on the bottom wall 4e; an annular projecting part 12c which is provided on an outer circumference of the large diameter flange part 12b, projected to a cylinder hole opening part side and abutted on a fore end of a piston 7; and a guide shaft part 12d projected in the cylinder axial direction from the large diameter flange part 12b.
