PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance error correction capability of correcting an error of a disk ID. SOLUTION: In a disk recording and playing back apparatus 51 that plays back an optical disk 26 where a second area other than a first area, which records content data, is arranged, and one block is configured in the second area by adding a parity of 16 bytes to ID information of the optical disk 26, and the block is written in a multiple manner, a spindle motor 62 rotates the optical disk 26, an optical pickup 64 plays back data of the optical disk 26, and an ECC section 70 corrects an error of the ID information based on the parity of 16 bytes played back by the optical pickup 64.
