The device has supporting rolls (2) rotatably mounted in a bearing shell (3) that includes a bearing surface. The bearing shell subjects the supporting rolls, on a side facing away from a wire (1), a felt, or a paper web, to a fluidic medium for spacing the roll at a distance from a bearing surface. The fluidic medium e.g. water or compressed air, capable of flowing is selected from a group consisting of liquid and gas. A narrow nozzle-type channel (4) supplying the fluidic medium opens into the bearing shell. The fluidic medium flows into an opening (5) that is formed in the bearing shell.
